EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Dawn has been the director of health care services at Friendship Ventures, MN, a residential camp for people with special needs, since 2001. She a graduate of Anoka Ramsey and Augsberg Collage, from which she received a BSN. Dawn’s nursing career includes pediatric home care, public health, nursing supervision and management. She has a particular interest in mentoring nursing students, especially as they transition from student to their nursing career. On the other hand, she is also working at the grassroots level with a group of retired nurses to form a Retired Nurses Association in Minnesota. Needless to say, Dawn also has a background and special skills in organizational management.

Dawn joined ACN when she started her work at Friendship Ventures (2001) and came onto the Board in 2004. She also maintains membership in ACA’s Northland Section and has presented to that group (Trends In Camp Health). Dawn is particularly interested in promoting camp nursing as a practice option, expanding the use of camps as clinical sites for nursing students, and helping colleagues improve the camp experience for both campers and staff.
