HISTORIAN, MEMBERSHIP
Paulina began camp nursing in 1995 as a volunteer nurse for the
Muscular Dystrophy program while working as an ICU nurse. She met
her husband and, as a result of marriage, moved to Camp ASCCA, “Alabama’s
camp for children and adults,” but worked for another 10
years as a post anesthesia nurse before she became Camp ASCCA’s
health services director in 2001. She loves her current job!
Paulina works with children and adults with all types of disabilities:
the physically disabled, mentally disabled, and those with chronic
diagnoses such as sickle cell, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, and
spinal conditions. Her work, a year round position, provides opportunity
for new quests; this year, for example, she’s developing
a handicapped accessible garden at the camp.
Camp ASCCA doesn’t keep Paulina busy all the time. She also
works as a ER nurse during the winter months. Paulina joined ACN
when she became a camp nurse and has appreciated the help she’s
received by networking with other members, especially during her
first years in the practice. She hopes to enable more of that networking
through her Board efforts, especially in the area of membership
while she captures ACN’s story as historian.
